The customer was running Windchill 10.0 M40, a legacy PLM system that was no longer supported. Heavy customization, a complex data model and a highly customized NPI process maintained within ProjectLink increased operational complexity. In addition, fragmented change management processes across sites and business functions created inefficiencies and limited process standardization.
Solution
We delivered a comprehensive Windchill upgrade and NPI transformation program focused on modernizing the PLM landscape while aligning business processes across the organization.
Our team successfully upgraded the legacy Windchill environment to the latest platform version, providing the customer with a more stable, scalable and supportable PLM foundation. The upgrade also simplified backend administration and improved system maintainability for future growth.
To reduce complexity, we assessed customized legacy functionality and replaced it with standard out-of-the-box capabilities wherever possible. This enabled the customer to retain critical business processes while significantly improving long-term upgrade readiness and reducing system dependency on custom developments.
The engagement also involved migrating and validating complex business reports to ensure continuity of critical engineering and operational information. Alongside the technical migration, our experts introduced industry best practices for harmonizing change management processes across multiple sites and business functions, creating greater consistency and governance throughout the organization.
To support efficient NPI execution, we aligned the underlying data model with business requirements and enhanced process integration across the PLM ecosystem. This established a more connected digital thread and enabled seamless data exchange between Windchill and downstream enterprise applications.
